Do you know of a custodian, tradesperson, food services employee, payroll technician, paraprofessional, instructional assistant, school secretary, or office manager in the Alameda Unified School District (AUSD) who you think is doing excellent work for the children and staff of this district?  Alameda community members now have a chance to nominate AUSD employees for the state's Classified School Employee of the Year program.

You can nominate classified AUSD employees in the following five categories:

  • Child Nutrition (e.g.,  food service employees)
  • Maintenance, Operations, and Facilities (e.g., custodians and tradespeople)
  • Office and Technical  (e.g., school site secretaries and office managers)
  • Para-Educator and Instructional Assistance (e.g., paraprofessionals and teacher assistants)
  • Support Services and Security (e.g., campus supervisors, payroll technicians, and student services assistants)

(The state also takes nominees for a sixth category, Transportation, but AUSD has no staff working in that category.)

Further directions, as well as the nomination form, are available here.   Once it is filled out, please send it to Humera Khalil, at The deadline for submitting nominations to the district is March 9, 2020.

Teacher of the Year

The Teacher of the Year program is designed to honor and recognize excellent teachers working in the Alameda Unified School District (AUSD). This is a unique opportunity to provide well-deserved
recognition for the whole teaching profession, as well as for the distinguished teachers that are nominated. Parents, students, staff, and community members have the opportunity to nominate any
pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade teacher or a teacher of adults who provide instruction in the same curriculum as those who teach in elementary or secondary grades.

2020 teacher of the year program

The 2020 Teacher of the Year program kicked off on November 12, 2019, when the Board of Education received a presentation on this year's process. The nomination forms are available here, and the deadline for nominations is December 17 at 5 pm. Thank you for your participation!
