Sexual Health Education
Under California's Healthy Youth Act, all middle school and high school students must receive comprehensive sexual education. AUSD is using Oakland Unified School District's comprehensive sexual health education curriculum, Healthy Oakland Teens. This curriculum increases students’ knowledge and skills and connects students to health services in their community. All teachers undergo a full day of professional development before implementing the Healthy Oakland Teens curriculum in their classrooms.
The curriculum includes a free Healthy Oakland Teens mobile app, designed to help students access free, youth-friendly health services.
