2023/2024 School Year: You will find the Enrollment Home page here or by navigating to the AUSD home page and clicking on Enroll on the right side of the page. Then follow the directions for new 2023-24 enrollment.

No,  since TK is not offered at every school site it does not qualify for the home attendance zone status.  We will make every effort to place your student in the closest TK to your home given space availability.

2023-2024 School year

TK is the first of a two-year Kindergarten experience for students whose fifth birthdays fall between September 2, 2023 and April 2, 2024. AUSD uses the defined California eligibility dates for placement. There are no exceptions. TK provides a developmentally appropriate curriculum focused on social-emotional skill-building and is taught by credentialed teachers.

There are no exceptions to the date ranges. However, once the school year begins you can request a meeting with your child’s teacher to discuss options.

2022-2023 School Year:  Students enrolling for the 2022-23 school year must be five years of age on or before September 1, 2022.

2023-2024 School Year: Students enrolling for the 2023-24 school year must be five years of age on or before September 1, 2023.

Yes. At the time of your scheduled enrollment processing, your TK student’s immunizations must meet the minimum California immunization requirements. 

No. The physical exam may be completed up to 18 months prior to entry into first grade (6 months prior to the start of kindergarten) or within 90 days after the start of first grade. Parents may waive the health checkup requirement if they are unable to obtain a health screening for their child, or choose not to obtain a health screening. In this case, the parent must sign the ‘Waiver of Health Examination for School Entry’ and turn it in at the time of their enrollment appointment. If the waiver indicates that the parents were unable to obtain such services, the reasons must be included in the waiver. If a parent was unable to obtain services due to financial constraints, their child may be eligible to receive a no-cost health examination through the CHDP program.
PLEASE NOTE: The physical exam requirement is separate from the immunization requirements.

No, but it should be turned in as soon as possible. The child’s dental exam (Oral Health Assessment) can be obtained up to 12 months prior to the start of kindergarten, or any time during the kindergarten year. By state law, the exam must be complete and the form submitted to your school office by May 31st of your child’s kindergarten year.

Each elementary school schedules tours for new parents during the month of January. Contact your neighborhood school to sign up for a tour.  For TK families please plan to schedule a tour at the TK school closest to your home.

8:45 am -12:30 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays & Fridays

8:45 am - 12:10 pm on Wednesdays

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday:  8:20 am to 2:00 pm 

Wednesday (early release): 8:20 am to 12:10 pm

Lunch time is not included in the TK day. However, if your child is staying in the after school program, lunch will be provided at school. If you are leaving your child at school for the extended day program, school day staff will support students until 1:00 p.m. The Extended Day/After School Program starts at 1:00 p.m. and goes until 6:00 p.m.

The Enrichment Program will be open until 6:00 pm every school day.  Click on your designated school site to register.  Financial Aid is available.  Please complete application PRIOR to registration.  Financial Aid Application
