We will hold families up as equal status partners in the educational process by creating a community around education where they feel welcomed, heard, and respected as co-educators. We will amplify their voices at school board meetings and other forums where culturally relevant perspectives and advocacy can influence decision-making.

Create safe spaces for difficult conversations in order to build stronger, more sustainable school/family partnerships and remove barriers that sit between students and their path toward success.

We want to foster family empowerment and influence through education about district policies and programs so
that families can engage in more effective self-advocacy in support of their students.

We will advocate to interrupt the inequitable outcomes for African American/Black/ Multiethnic students. Identification of, and access to, appropriate support services (academic support, behavior support, counseling, interventions, etc.) and utilization of all
available resources to which students are entitled, at every school site.

Students need to see reflections of themselves in their educators. Connecting with educators of similar ethnicities and backgrounds can have a huge and lasting impact on students’ academic performance and social-emotional development. We will influence the process of hiring qualified educators and staff of color.

We will facilitate opportunities to improve families’ ability to establish authentic and meaningful relationships with educators where their lived experiences are valued. These relationships can contribute to much-needed systemic change on behalf of our students and help to rebuild trust between families and the district.

Influence the development and implementation of the CCEIS plans and support families that are part of the Plan’s implementation. Provide a forum and safe space for families of CCEIS Scholars to network and share their experiences during the Plan’s implementation.

Seek to understand the intersection between race and Special Education. Provide a safe and welcoming space for all families of African American/Black/Multiethnic students, including those receiving Special Education and/or have disabilities.
