In the interests of transparency, I want to let the AUSD community know that I have recently been diagnosed with cancer and will be undergoing treatments, which began this week. As such, I may miss a few meetings over the next several months, and you may notice some changes in my appearance.
I want everyone to know, however, that I am receiving excellent support from my medical team, family, friends, and colleagues and I fully expect to carry out my duties as a Board Member in this district over the coming months. In fact, I look forward to that work.
I am thankful to the Board and other members of the community who have been supporting me through this process so far. I know many of you may be moved to also offer support – Alamedans are wonderfully compassionate and generous. Please know that right now, however, I am well taken care of, and the best thing that community members can do for me is to focus on the work at hand, here in AUSD, and not my illness.
If you would like to follow my cancer journey, you can search the CaringBridge website for my name. I post regular updates there for the community and will continue doing so over the coming months.
Sincerely,
Heather Little
