This year’s storied Island Bowl takes place September 11. The JV game will begin at 4:30 pm and the Varsity game at 7 pm, at the new Encinal Jets’ Field.  

The game is early in the season this year, which means that neither team has established a strong record. (As of August 31, AHS is 0-1 and Encinal is 0-0.) But we’re expecting an exciting game - not just because of the bowl's 71-year history, but also because the two teams’ Island Bowl records are so closely matched. Since 1955, the Hornets have won 35 of the games; the Jets have won 33, and two games were tied. 

The Island Bowl typically attracts a lot of spectators, and we’re expecting more this year because it is being played on the new field. To ensure safety for all, this year we’re implementing a few new protocols.  Please read the following information carefully: 

Time and Place 

• The JV game begins at 4:30 pm; the varsity game begins at 7 pm. 
• The game takes place at the Encinal Jets’ Field 

Tickets 

• Tickets go on sale at 6:30 pm on September 8.  
• Tickets will only be available on GoFan. No tickets will be available at the game.

• Individuals can buy up to four tickets each. 

 Seating 

Bleachers at the new athletic field hold only1100 people. Due to construction on the blacktop, standing room is also limited. As such:

• Seating on the bleachers will be first come, first served.  
• Once the bleachers are full, limited standing room will be available.
• We recommend that you buy your tickets early and arrive at the game early. 
• There are no in-and-out privileges. Once you leave the field, you cannot come back in. 

Parking 

• Parking is available at the Encinal Boat Ramp and in the surrounding neighborhood. 
• If you are driving, please plan to arrive early so that you have plenty of time to find parking and walk to the field calmly and safely. 

What to Bring 

• You can bring team spirit, team swag, and warm clothing (it gets windy there). You cannot bring:
  • Backpacks 
  • A purse larger than 5 x 8 inches 
  • Outside food & beverages
  • Water bottles 
  • Hydro flasks 
  • Drugs, alcohol, controlled substances or their paraphernalia
  • Vapes 

Supervision 

• Students in 8th grade and under need to be accompanied by a supervising adult. 
• Students should bring their ID cards or show their Aeries page and another photo ID at the gate to verify grade level if they are not with an adult.

Expectations 

• We expect all of our students and families to be respectful and considerate of the opposing team, their supporters, the game officials, and nearby residents. 
• Students can be subject to disciplinary conduct for improper conduct at games
