Measure E update

Dear Families and Staff,

The most recent results from the county Registrar of Voters makes it appear quite certain that Alameda voters will indeed approve Measure E, the parcel tax that renews and extends the current parcel taxes that support Alameda schools.

The results still aren’t final. We believe there are at least several thousand more ballots to be counted. But with a 75.45% approval rating – the highest percentage of yes votes that an AUSD parcel tax has ever received – it would be nearly impossible to lose at this point.

This news comes as an enormous relief to AUSD leadership, and we hope it is an enormous relief to all of our employees and families. Without this renewal of local funding, we would have been facing devastating losses of programs and personnel. With it, we can continue to focus on providing the best instructional programs possible for our students.

We will hold off on making an official announcement until the Registrar of Voters “certifies” the vote, meaning it takes step to ensure that the count of ballots and reckoning of votes is complete and accurate, which typically takes several weeks. In the meantime, we’d like to thank everyone who voted yes, everyone who worked on the campaign, and all of our AUSD and extended community for their continual support of our students, staff, and families.

With Deep Appreciation,

Pasquale Scuderi
