Dear AUSD Community:
We are all witnessing and watching the devastating fallout from another mass shooting in the United States. This latest horror in Colorado targeted our LGBTQ+ friends, family members, and neighbors.
We are crushed again by lives lost and by the impact this has had on the victims and their friends and families, but also know that words of condolence are beginning to ring hollow as these hate-driven murders have become so commonplace in the United States.
The fact that people are still driven to murder and harm people simply for being themselves in our country is difficult to fathom and can push us all towards the edge of hopelessness.
As a school community we cannot, and will not accept this as normal, and we will continue to work to strengthen and amplify our solidarity with every member of our beautifully diverse community.
