This year, we’re delighted to welcome six new site administrators to the AUSD community: Mark Figueras Segado, Bryan Dunn-Ruiz, Dr. Tri Nguyen, Karen Ringewald, Jessica Siebert, and Juan Flores.
They represent diverse educational experiences and are committed to equity and excellence for all students. We are excited to get to know them and see how their leadership strengthens their communities.
Mr. Figueras Segado will serve as the new Assistant Principal at Love Elementary School. He most recently worked as assistant principal at Kipp King Collegiate High School in San Lorenzo. Before that, he taught social studies at Kipp NYC College Prep in the Bronx, NY and Leadership High School in San Francisco.
He received his Bachelor of Arts in sociology and Master of Arts in teaching from the University of San Francisco and his second Master of Arts in educational leadership from the University of California, Berkeley.
Mr. Dunn-Ruiz is the new Principal at Earhart Elementary School. Last year, he taught fifth grade at Earhart. Before that, he was a principal at Corvallis Elementary School in San Lorenzo and a literacy/TSA reading intervention teacher at Dayton Elementary School in San Lorenzo.
He received his Bachelor of Science in anthropology from Southern Oregon University, his Master of Arts in educational leadership from the University of California, Berkeley, and his Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from CSU East Bay.
Dr. Nguyen joins Paden Elementary School as its new Principal. He most recently served as principal and assistant principal at Luther Burbank School in San Jose. Before that, he was vice principal at Belle Haven School in Menlo Park and taught at the middle and elementary levels.
He received both his Bachelor of Arts in sociology and communication and his Master of Arts in education from the University of California, Davis, and his Doctorate of Education from San Jose State University.
Ms. Ringewald will serve as Principal at Maya Lin Elementary School. She most recently served as principal and assistant principal at Aspire Triumph Technology Academy in Oakland. Before that, she was the dean of students and after school director at Aspire Triumph Technology Academy and Millsmont Academy in Oakland. She also taught sixth grade in Los Angeles.
She received her Bachelor of Arts in government and Master of Public Administration from Cornell University. She also received a Master of Arts in educational leadership from CSU Dominguez Hills and a Master of Education in instructional leadership from Reach Institute.
Ms. Siebert will serve as Assistant Principal at Ruby Bridges Elementary School. Most recently, she was a program specialist and teacher on special assignment for MTSS at Piedmont Unified School District in Piedmont. Before that, she was a resource specialist at Lighthouse Community Charter School in Oakland and a kindergarten teacher in Oakland.
She received her Bachelor of Arts in environmental studies from Sonoma State University, a Master of Arts in teaching from the University of San Francisco, a Mild to Moderate Education Specialist Credential from Alliant University, and a Preliminary Administrative Services Credential from CSU East Bay. Ms. Siebert also minored in biology during her time at Sonoma State University.
We’d also like to welcome Juan Flores as the Acting Principal at Ruby Bridges Elementary School. Mr. Flores has been a substitute administrator with AUSD in recent years. Before that, he was a principal in Hayward Unified School District and an assistant principal in Castro Valley Unified School District.
Mr. Flores earned his Bachelors of Arts degree at the University of California, Berkeley, and a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from California State University East Bay. We are grateful for his support!
