Alameda, CA – February 15, 2024 – At its February 13 public meeting, the Board of Education for the Alameda Unified School District appointed Jill Hunter as the new Coordinator of Early Childhood Education for the Woodstock Child Development Center.
Ms. Hunter currently serves as AUSD’s Program Manager for Preschool & Elementary Special Education. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from San Diego State University, her credentials in general education from Notre Dame de Namur, her credentials in special education from San Francisco State University, and her administrative credential and Master’s Degree in Education Leadership from Touro University.
In her new role, Ms. Hunter will oversee both the childcare center and the Ardella Dailey Special Education Preschool. The establishment of the position “heralds a new era and approach to our early childhood education program that is more inclusive, more community based, and more aligned with state standards,” says Tanya Harris, AUSD’s Director of Elementary Programs.
A ceremony to welcome Ms. Hunter and officially launch the new “Alameda Child Development Center” will take place later this spring.
“I am thrilled to step into a role that allows me to nurture AUSD’s early childhood education offerings,” Ms. Hunter says, “and help it grow into a program that fully supports all of our youngest learners, their families, and the center’s staff.”
