AUSD Coronavirus Hub

what you can do

On March 16, 2020, the Alameda County Department of Public Health - along with the public health departments of five other counties in the Bay Area - ordered a shelter in place for the next three weeks. That shelter-in-place order has now been extended until May 1.

We encourage all family and staff to comply with the terms of this order in order to create the "social distancing" needed to slow the spread of COVID-19 in our community, our state, and the country at large. In the meantime, please also remember to:

  • Stay six feet away from other people if you have to go out in public.
  • Get a flu vaccination  (i.e., a "flu shot")
  • Wash your hands frequently
  • Cover your nose and/or mouth with your arm or a tissue when you sneeze or cough
  • Disinfect surfaces routinely - especially those you touch often
  • Avoid touching your face, particularly your eyes, nose, and mouth
  • Avoid close contact with others who are ill
  • If you are ill, self quarantine for 14 days.

In-class instruction in all AUSD schools has been suspended through the end of the school year. We have non-digital learning activities (meaning those that do not require a computer or an internet connection) available on our Online Learning Opportunities Portal, as well as online links to educational resources that have been approved by our Teaching and Learning staff.  Distance learning will begin on April 6, after our Spring Break.

The education and well-being of your students is our priority, and we are committed to providing you with timely, transparent, and accurate communications about this public health situation. Please check the "Updates" on this page to get the most recent information.
